Vinyl is here

June 1, 2021 — Today has been an emotional day. To be honest, when I began receiving texts supposedly from DHL that a delivery was in progress and that a signature was required, I thought it could have been spam or a scam.

But then the truck arrived and the driver said there were some boxes to unload. Wait. According to my vinyl production team at Atomic Disc, the estimated delivery wasn’t going to happen until mid-August.

Then it sunk in. This was not spam, scam or sham; my vinyl was done and delivered super early.

I thought a lot about my Dad today. He is no longer with us, but his words of encouragement and support have always remained with me in my pursuits and endeavours.

He used to say, “You’ll always know where home is,” and things of that nature after I’d left the nest. He wanted me to know that the door was always open if I ever chose to, or needed to, come home.

I honoured my Dad’s sentiments in the song “Hometown,” which opens Side 2 of the record.

And why is receiving my vinyl order on June 1 significant? My Dad was born on this day 83 years ago.

Thanks, Dad.
